The Hispanic market represents a buying power of over 1 Trillion dollars in America alone and is over 12% of the American population or about 54 Million and growing at 50% per year. In this book you not only learn all of the necessary components to build or grow an online business presence, you also learn how to do it in a new, growing, and unsaturated market with real opportunity – even during a recession. A Master Class in Brand Planning: The Timeless Works of Stephen King $60 ‘What is a Brand?’ by Stephen King was one of the most influential pieces of work ever and has had a lasting influence on the way in which I think about brands. A few years ago I had the extraordinary experience of re-visiting the video of it made by Stephen and Jeremy Bullmore and the stunning thing was how prescient they had been some thirty years previously. Indeed, the only thing they had not foreseen was the internet – everything else they got right. —Hamish Pringle, Director General, IPA Martin Mayer, the well-known investigative journalist, has described the present-day American advertising business more accurately than any other writer. He did this in his book Whatever Happened to Madison Avenue? Advertising in the ‘90s. I quote from page 191: “Thompson in London had become what Ogilvy was the first to call ‘a teaching hospital,’ where the researcher Stephen King developed philosophies of branding that were carried to America by John Philip Jones and Timothy Joyce.” There is very little doubt today that branding is at the top of most marketing professionals’ minds in the United States. But “top of mind” is not quite the same as “in the bloodstream.” Packaged goods advertisers in the United States are currently forced to spend three timesas much money below the line on price cutting, as above the line on brand-building media advertising. It is to be hoped that the book of Stephen’s papers will inject a powerful serum into the bloodstream of American marketers, to help them develop a strategic response to the power of the retail trade which is at the moment debilitating and even emasculating many American brands. —John Philip Jones, Professor, S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University, New York, USA King’s relentless thirst to understand, rigour of questioning and breadth of learning remain an inspiration. A |

A View Of The Charles $33.44 It’s difficult to recall how innocent we all were before 9/11/2001. As the year 1999 came to an end, the world worried that a single number-the “2″ in “2000″–would bring modern life as we knew it to an end as a result of the problem that came to be known simply as “Y2K.”At the same time the world of business seemed to be going mad; the internet bubble had not yet burst; men and women went to work dressed in casual clothes their parents wouldn’t have worn to a garage sale; salaries for young lawyers fresh out of school hit $100,000 a year.A View of the Charles is set against this backdrop as four young people, Roderick Tribble, Melinda Pickels, Andrews de Groot and Sally Barnard, mix and match themselves within the confines of Rodman & Ward, an old-line Boston law firm that is on its last legs. John Rodman struggles to preserve the firm his Boston Brahmin father founded, while a rising generation of more aggressive lawyers seeks to grab the reins from him or leave with his clients. At the same time, Rodman must deal with the decline of his long-time partner Ned Ward, who is slipping into senility. A light-hearted romantic comedy, A View of the Charles will recall for the reader the way we were before the end of the last millennium. Also by the author: The Year of the Gerbil: How the Yankees Won (and the Red Sox Lost) the Greatest Pennant Race Ever.”a sharp eye and a fine, dry sense of humor,” David Warsh, The Boston Globe”A mere little book about baseball, in the sense that Moby Dick is merely a book about fishing.” Etaoin Shrdlu |

Gen Y respondents have significantly higher continuance commitment scores than did Gen X respondents. |

AN ASSESSMENT MODEL FOR WEB-BASED INFORMATION SYSTEM EFFECTIVENESS $60 Information System (IS) effectiveness assessment is an important issue for the organizations as IS have become critical for their survival. With the incorporation of Internet technologies into the business environment, it is now more difficult to measure IS effectiveness, because Internet provides a borderless, non-stop, flexible communication medium. Assessing the effectiveness of web-based information systems (WIS) is vital for survival and competitive advantage which is a complicated subject since there are several interacting factors to consider. In the literature there are several methods proposed for IS assessment. However, those studies have been far from providing a broad, comprehensive evaluation framework for any type of web-based IS independent of its domain. In this book, a generic WIS effectiveness assessment framework is proposed. The framework is applied in case studies consisting of four organizations in e-commerce and e-banking domains. |

Against the Machine: Being Human in the Age of the Electronic Mob $0.99 From the author hailed by the New York Times Book Review for his “drive-by brilliance” and dubbed by the New York Times Magazine as “one of the country’s most eloquent and acid-tongued critics” comes a ruthless challenge to the conventional wisdom about the most consequential cultural development of our time: the Internet. Of course the Internet is not one thing or another; if anything, its boosters claim, the Web is everything at once. It’s become not only our primary medium for communication and information but also the place we go to shop, to play, to debate, to find love. Lee Siegel argues that our ever-deepening immersion in life online doesn’t just reshape the ordinary rhythms of our days; it also reshapes our minds and culture, in ways with which we haven’t yet reckoned. The web and its cultural correlatives and by-products—such as the dominance of reality television and the rise of the “bourgeois bohemian”—have turned privacy into performance, play into commerce, and confused “self-expression” with art. And even as technology gurus ply their trade using the language of freedom and democracy, we cede more and more control of our freedom and individuality to the needs of the machine—that confluence of business and technology whose boundaries now stretch to encompass almost all human activity. Siegel’s argument isn’t a Luddite intervention against the Internet itself but rather a bracing appeal for us to contend with how it is transforming us all. Dazzlingly erudite, full of startlingly original insights, and buoyed by sharp wit, Against the Machine will force you to see our culture—for better and worse—in an entirely new way. |

In 2005, US$106 billion was spent on online travel products and services with air travel alone accounting for over US$65 billion or sisty per cent. This represents almost a quarter of the total worldwide business-to-consumer (B2C) online spending.A variety of contributing factors is responsible for this development: first, the emergence of the internet and specifically the worldwide web and their commercial applications in the mid 1990ssecond, a change in the behavior of consumers who through inexpensive internet access and growing familiarity with easy-to-use technology today shop 24/7 from anywhere in the worldthird, airline companies use the internet not only as a new platform to service, sell and market but – by cutting traditional supply channels and reaching directly to the end consumer – also to realize cost savings in their distribution systemsfourth, the arrival of new intermediaries in the form of internet travel agencies (such as Expedia and Opodo), network affiliates, and mass sales and marketing websites that distribute travel products to the public. Considering the above, airline companies all over the world have integrated (or are in the process of doing so) electronic commerce or e-commerce into their business operations in various shapes and forms. Today, it is no longer a question of ‘if’ for airline companies but ‘how’ to deal with e-commerce and leverage it to enhance their competitiveness. This book explores these issues. |

Amazon.Com $19.99 Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) is an American-based multinational electronic commerce company. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, it is America’s largest online retailer, with nearly three times the Internet sales revenue of the runner up, Staples, Inc., as of January 2010. Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com, Inc. in 1994 and launched it online in 1995 as Cadabra.com. It started as an online bookstore, but soon diversified, selling DVDs, CDs, MP3 downloads, computer software, video games, electronics, apparel, furniture, food, and toys. Amazon has established separate websites in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, and China. It also provides international shipping to certain countries for some of its products. A 2009 survey found that Amazon was the UK’s favorite music and video retailer, and third overall retailer. Amazon was founded in 1994, spurred by what Bezos called “regret minimization framework”, his effort to fend off regret for not staking a claim in the Internet gold rush. Company lore says Bezos wrote the business plan while he and his wife drove from New York to Seattle,, although that account appears to be apocryphal. The company began as an online bookstore; while the largest brick-and-mortar bookstores and mail-order catalogs for books might offer 200,000 titles, an online bookstore could offer more. Bezos named the company “Amazon” after the world’s largest river. Since 2000, Amazon’s logotype is an arrow leading from A to Z, representing customer satisfaction (as it forms a smile); a goal was to have every product in the alphabet. Amazon was incorporated in 1994, in the state of Washington. In July 1995, the company began service and sold its first book on amazon.com – Douglas Hofstadter’s Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models of the Fundamental Mechanisms of Thought.. In 1996, it was reincorporated in Delaware. Amazon issued its |

Amazon.com: Get Big Fast $0.99 In Amazon.com Jeff Bezos built something the world had never seen. He created the most recognized brand name on the Internet and became one of the richest men in the world. He was recently named Time magazine’s Person of the Year and was crowned “the king of cybercommerce.”Yet for all the success and all the media exposure, the inside story of Amazon.com has never really been told. In this revealing, unauthorized account of Amazon’s astounding rise, Robert Spector, journalist and bestselling author, gives us the fastpaced, behind-the-scenes true story of the company’s creation, its tumultuous present, and its uncertain future.By talking to friends, confidants, early employees, rivals, publishing executives, stock analysts, and venture capitalists, Spector goes beyond the “official story”-the glib, polished, media-savvy statements that Bezos feeds to the press-and presents in unprecedented detail the real facts of the company’s beginnings, innovations, business practices, and strategies, and its vision of the future. Further, he explains what the Amazon story means for conventional business, e-commerce, and ultimately the consumer.Bezos’s first employers tell how the experience he gained at their firms prepared him for creating Amazon.com. Early investors reveal the details of Bezos’s initial pitch for money. Former company insiders divulge how painstakingly Amazon.com’s internal systems were put together. And the story becomes more compelling all the time as Amazon finds itself under attack by the formerly Internetchallenged behemoth retailers, by online startups trying to eat Bezos’s lunch, and by impatient investors waiting for the company to turn a profit. (Amazonlost an incredible $720 million in 1999.)Amazon.com’s emergence as an e-commerce powerhouse has set off tremors around the world, jolting the “bricks and mortar” retailing giants, and forever changing the way everyone does business. But has Jeff Bezos finally run out of time? Will his |

Anaphora Resolution and Discourse-New Classification $107 In the age of the Internet and Electronic mail the need for processing and assimilating vast amounts of on-line information in order to support decision making, business competitiveness, new educational paradigms, etc., has made the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) one of the fastest growing and consequently, related application areas like Information Extraction (IE) and Text Summarisation have attracted a lot of research in recent years. One area, generally viewed as a branch of IE, that has enjoyed increased interest and attracted much attention is that of Anaphora Resolution (AR). The work presented here investigates two main research questions: the more general question of whether using a general anaphoric resolver in real end-goal applications brings tangible benefits for the applications; and a more specific one, whether discourse-new detectors are useful for improving the performance of AR and whether this improvement is significant enough to warrant their development and use in AR systems. The book may be of interest to researchers or software engineers working in the area of NLP and looking into incorporating higher-level semantic information into their systems. |

Anytime Playdate: Inside the Preschool Entertainment Boom, Or, How Television Became My Baby’s Best Friend $16.99 In this eye-opening book, the first to investigate the explosion of the multibillion-dollar preschool entertainment business and its effects on families, Dade Hayes — an entertainment expert, author, and concerned father — lifts the veil on the closely guarded process of marketing to the ultra-young and their parents. Like many parents, Dade Hayes grabbed “me time” by plopping his daughter in front of the TV, relaxing while Margot delighted in the sights and sounds of Barney and the Teletubbies. But when Margot got hooked, screaming whenever the TV was turned off, Hayes set out to explore the vast universe of this industry in which preschoolers devour $21 billion worth of entertainment. Going behind the scenes to talk with executives, writers, and marketers who see the value of educational TV, Hayes finds compelling research that watching TV may raise IQs and increase vocabularies. On the other side, he brings in the voices of pediatricians and child psychologists who warn against “babysitter TV” and ask whether “TV trance” is healthy — in spite of the relaxation that the lull affords exhausted parents — as recent studies link early television viewing with obesity, attention and cognitive problems, and violence. Along the way, Hayes narrates the fascinating evolution of Nickelodeon’s bilingual preschool gamble, Ni Hao, Kai-lan, from an art student’s Internet doodles to its final product: an educationally fortified, Dora-inflected, test audience-approved television show. At the show’s debut, jittery experts hold their breath as the tweaked and researched Kai-lan faces Mr. Potato Head in the battle for a three-year-old’s attention. Anytime Playdate reveals the marketing science of capturing a toddler’s attention, examining whether Baby Einstein and its ilk will make babies smarter, or if, conversely, television makes babies passive and uncritical, their imaginations colonized by marketing schemes before they |

Application Service Providers in Business $57.95 Learn how to use Application Service Providers to enhance the future of your business!Application Service Providers in Business is a comprehensive analysis of the present ASP model and its place in business today. Business success in today’s information-intensive marketplace depends on a company’s ability to acquire and fully use the latest advancements in business-critical applications. By having these applications delivered as services over the Internet, businesses can lessen the demands on company IT staff, and increase the ability to get complex software into use immediately. Within this context, a new outsourcing business model called ASP (Application Service Provider) has emerged that is transforming how businesses access and leverage software applications. The book explains the specific contingent ASP models, including business, enterprise, functional-focused, and vertical market ASPs, and ASP aggregators. It demonstrates how different ASP models have fulfilled diverse market/customer expectations and explores future scenarios for current ASP business models. Case studies, tables, and figures illustrate important concepts and make complex information easy to access and understand. Based on a thorough analysis of the ASP market environment, the book provides detailed Best Practices Guidelines that managers of ASPs can use to improve the chances of success of their respective ASPs. It outlines contingency factors such as application offerings, customer selection, operations, and strategic fit. The book also not only assists business managers in deciding on whether to use an ASP, but it presents ways to use ASPs to effectively support their business process. The ability to provide the workforce with access to data whenever and wherever is crucial for positively impacting a company’s profitability, and ASPs provide the software to make it possible.Topics included in Application Service Providers in Business are: Best |

Architects of the Business Revolution: The Ultimate E-Business Book $1.99 The Internet is all pervasive. Its influence and power extends ever further into every aspect of our private and professional lives. We routinely use it as a source of reference, a medium for discussion, and, increasingly, as a place to conduct business. The ‘e’ in e-business is now so ubiquitous that it is easy to forget that just a matter of years – indeed months – ago, the world looked very different. The business world in particular has been turned upside down by the Net. The word ‘revolution’ has been used so liberally that its meaning has become devalued. Yet the reverberations in the world of commerce that have resulted from the Net constitute nothing less than a revolution. Every revolution needs its architects. Without Lenin, Trotsky and others, nothing would have happened in Russia in 1917. Without an intelligentsia and people to take new ideas and make them a reality, nothing changes. So who are the architects of this business revolution?Architects of the Business Revolution is a journey through this remarkable new territory. Dearlove and Coomber identify the entrepreneurs, radicals and thinkers who have made the greatest contribution to this new world. From wunderkinds like Marc Andreessen and Sabheer Bhatia and rocket scientists like Tim Berners-Lee and Vinton Cerf, to visionaries like Don Tapscott and Esther Dyson and business engineers like Scott McNealy and Jim Clark. These are the guys and girls you have to know about. Beyond the individuals themselves, Dearlove and Coomber take ideas into action and offer practical guidance drawn from these pioneers. |

Architects of the Web $0.99 Architects of the Web presents the dynamic history of the Web’s creation and evolution —as well as its emergence as a dynamic business tool —through revealing profiles of its architects, the brilliant minds who have helped thrust the Web onto desktops and corporate agendas around the world. A diverse, ambitious group, the architects of the Web are: Marc Andreessen, Netscape *Ariel Poler, I/PRO *Rob Glaser, Progressive Networks *Andrew Anker, HotWired *Kim Polese, Marimba *Halsey Minor, CNET *Mark Pesce, VRML *Jerry Yang, Yahoo! It is arguably the most significant business tool of our time. As powerful as the television, the telephone, and the personal computer —and destined to subsume them all — the Internet has exploded from twenty-five years of lab room obscurity to become the hottest business story ever. The catalyst of this explosion, of course, is the rise of the World Wide Web, the Internet’s multimedia domain. The Web itself was just an academic curiosity until a University of Illinois undergraduate and a young researcher wrote a piece of software called “Mosaic” that made the Web accessible and alluring to the masses. In the thousand days that followed Mosaic’s release on the PC and Macintosh, the Web attracted more than 40 million users. This spectacular growth sparked one of the most dramatic periods of capital formation in history —so far bringing a million dollars or more in invested capital to over 500 new companies. One of these companies, Netscape, quickly became the fastest growing software company in history. And its flagship product, the Netscape Navigator, became the most popular PCapplication in the world less than two years after its release. Architects of the Web presents the history of the Web’s creation and evolution —as well as its emergence as a dynamic business tool —through revealing profiles of its architects, the brilliant minds who have helped |

Believe Me or Your Lying Eyes: An Entertaining History of Casinos, Corruption and Charities in America $6.95 “I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” Groucho MarxIn 1957, Vance Packard wrote. “Our American life, through a large scale effort to use psychiatry and the social sciences to influence and manipulate buying, has had impressive success below our level of awareness.” Since 1957, there is great evidence that our culture has become a harbinger of emotional exploitation in more forms than we can recognize and irrational profit taking in more forms than we can image. In these times, investing in a charity is not easy within a gambling culture that has glamorized wind fall profits, and run away CEO salaries. It certainly worsens when these efforts become unfettered, and ignored by business efforts that not only fail to provide a product of value but offer no product at all. This madness can only succeed by turning huge profits through the creation of cannibalistic markets and non-profit corporations that feed on gambling addictions which buy moments of hope as they excite and exploit risk instincts. This baiting continues to validate at warp speed the assumption that we are a nation of impulse buyers. We reverse like a school of starving gold fish fearful of the vibrations of mere foot steps and unable to notice bread crumbs on top of the water. No doubt someone has convinced us that with every failure there will always be another roll of the ‘dice.’ The more relevant question of interest is who will roll those dice on your internet gambling site? No doubt we have become more reactive but worse we have become less knowledgeable. This writing is offered to encourage your thoughtfulness about yourmoney and who and what you empower as you give it away. |

Since business letters are mailed less frequently, each one sent has the opportunity to have a greater impact on the reader that it would have in the pre–internet era. Big Deal: 2000 and Beyond $1.99 Since the publication of Bruce Wasserstein's seminal Business Week bestseller Big Deal, an explosion of megamergers and acquisitions has rocked Wall Street. With advancing technology and stockpiles of cash fueling the frenzy, the corporate landscape is changing overnight. This new edition of Big Deal tells you where the trends are going and why dealmaking in the new millennium is creating the biggest and most profitable businesses. Big Deal: 2000 and Beyond Chrysler-Daimler…Travelers-Salomon-Citicorp…NYNEX-Bell Atlantic….Ten years ago even the most visionary Wall Streeter could not have predicted the megamergers of the late 1990s. Analyzing the forces that made these mergers not only possible but inevitable, Wasserstein now presents a fascinating, colorful overview of the history of corporate mergers and buyouts from the roaring '20s to the current era. A veteran of over one thousand corporate deals and a man who knows today's biggest players personally, from Barry Diller to Sumner Redstone, Wasserstein moves from the historical to the human dramas behind the headlines. He asks, and answers, the important questions that every financial watcher—and investor—needs to know. Are companies overpaying for their corporate acquisitions? What's the impact of the rise in Internet stock prices and the boom in IPOs? And, in assessing the big picture, Wasserstein makes a persuasive argument that the explosion of corporate alliances will have an effect as dramatic as the industrial revolution. Big Deal is a masterful journey through the fascinating world of big business. Entertaining and illuminating from beginning to end, it explainswhy today's mergers and acquisitions change not only the way we do business, but the way we live. |

After Simpson learned about this rumor, she talked to Empire Online and stated, “I don’t know where that came from”, “it’s a movie called Blonde Ambition co- starring Luke Wilson. It’s definitely the theme of Working Girl – this small town girl that moves to New York City to rise up into this great career as a business woman pretty much. But it’s definitely not a remake.” Simpson also said that this film is more of a knockabout comedy than the Melanie Griffith starrer, which was a drama genre movie. Blood on the Street: The Sensational Inside Story of How Wall Street Analysts Duped a Generation of Investors $0.99 Blood on the Street is a riveting account of the Wall Street scam in which ordinary investors lost literally billions of dollars — in many cases their life savings — in one of the greatest deceptions ever, by the crack reporter who broke the original story. In one of the most outrageous examples of dirty dealing in the history of Wall Street, hundreds of millions of dollars in illicit profits were made during the booming 1990s as a result of research analysts issuing positive stock ratings on companies that kicked back investment banking business. Now, for the first time, award-winning journalist Charles Gasparino reveals the whole fascinating story of greed, arrogance, and corruption. It was Gasparino’s front-page reporting in The Wall Street Journal that brought the story to national attention and spurred New York State attorney general Eliot Spitzer to launch an official probe. Now, Gasparino goes behind his own headlines to tell the inside story of this spectacular swindle — with revelations from his unprecedented access to never-before-published depositions and documents, including e-mail exchanges leading all the way up to Citigroup CEO Sanford Weill. Drawing on his research and interviews with industry insiders, Gasparino takes readers into the back rooms of Wall Street’s top investment firms and captures the outsize personalities of three key players: Salomon Smith Barney’s Jack Grubman, a braggart with one of the largest salaries on Wall Street; Merrill Lynch’s Henry Blodget, the Yale graduate who hyped his way to the top of the research pyramid; and Morgan Stanley’s Mary Meeker, the “Queen of the Internet,” who foresaw the market catastrophe but gave in to the pressures Blood on the Street shows how regulators, like former SEC chairman Arthur Levitt, allowed the deceptive practices to fester and grow during the 1990s bubble, leaving the door open for a then- little-known attorney general from New York State to step in and make his mark by holding |
